Lab time!

Wednesday, 8 February 2012

Alright it’s time for the transmission and steering teams to be caught in action!
Everyone was doing the tasks given to them accordingly.Serious faces,eh?Well, they kinda ruled the lab when there’s fabrication in process.Right back to business, some are put in charged of the steering parts and some are incharge of the transmission area where dog clutch is involved.
Most of the steering parts are done and the members are still working their butt off with the transmission parts and not forgetting the chassis. The parts used for chassis are prepared when they headed for SIRIM for the chassis building.Chasis building will takes roughly about 10 days to complete and they are working on the weekdays to have it complete.*Pics of chassis will be uploaded soon*
Well for the engine team, the members are currently working under the fabrication part for the time being. They worked on the power train compartment and also the fabrication of the steering parts.
So now, more pictures for further details of the fabrication process...

Hoong Chuin is working on the steering parts

Girl power in action!

The only static thing is the workpiece.Great job Hui Peng, means she's really working...LOL

With such patience and care, way to go Bing Yao!

Better be careful , Kiu Leong or you'll have to do it again!

Polystrene Mania!

Really sorry about the wait because the team was busying with term exams.

Alright now we’re back for MORE!!
Now we will let you see what we’ve done till today!!

First up, molding session.

In order to make mold for the shell, we need lots of polystrene!! Drawings with different dimensions are made and cut out. The polystrene were then cut into shapes according to the drawings being pasted onto it. Once each and every piece of the polystrene is done, it’s time for assembling it!
With a loooonngg rod/pipe , all polystrene pieces were assembled accordingly. Here are some pictures of the process and finally with the end product of assembly .....
Pity Seng Tzer , eh the other 2 please help leh!

Yes now all are helping each other...

One Man Show*woots!*

Ah , leader treat members drinks!!!Thanks la KY. :D
Come come take your drinks!

Secretary in action." Eh faster bring that piece!!"

Assembling the pieces

"Wait this one not nicely places yet, ish"

Ta-daa!!

Wait, there’s still work to be done.

After assembling all the polystrene pieces, we will have to sand the whole mold for better surfacefinish and higher accuracy!! Note that we use different grades of sand paper just to get the perfect surface finish.

Just keep sanding...

And sanding

and Sanding

Now, with weeks for sanding as we were a little short of people during that period , here’s the end product : Great job to the Sanders!!

Secondly , plugging session.
Once the whole polystrene mold is done, we now move on to plugging session where the team will get down and dirty (not what you think it is yea ).They will have to stand the hot sun with dogs and dirty plugs starting at the break of dawn every morning just to get it done on time. *touching*

Days and days of suffering and this is what we all get.*Claps & Cheers *

Right that’s all we have till now, off for chinese New year break!! Happy Chinese New Year to all ( eventhough it’s a little late but hey better late than never right?? :D)

Videos of final touches of the mold, grinding the putty off the surface of the plug and polishing of the surface of the plug will be next! Make sure you keep checking in to find out more!!

p/s : Want to express our gratitude and thanks to the boss of the boathouse for helping us out!!
